I was browsing my local electronics store the other day. When I got to the computers, I noticed something new. First of all, the Windows-savvy store now sells Mac's (iMac for $1200, Macbook for $1300)

What I found more amazing was this incredibly tiny laptop sitting in the corner. An Acer Aspire One. With Windows XP Home, 1 GB of RAM and an Intel Atom at 1.6 Ghz, it was $450. I was instantly interested. I later read up on the internet about these so called "Netbook" or "Subcompact" computers, and I know there are a few different companies that make them. The Asus Eee PC, for one.

Anyway, does anyone here at CN own one of these Netbooks? If so, how do you like it? Did you ever have any problems? I would like to know! Thanks,

-Trent

A friend of mine has an Eee 901. Cute little thing that would make for a great electric study partner for younger kids. But that's about it, IMHO.

The processor's quite weak...it struggles greatly with some of the Flash-heavy websites that are out there. A few of the complex Flash "product demos" that many companies like to post these days run at around 5fps on the Eee's Atom.

If I were you, I'd spend $100 more for a real notebook with a much, much faster Pentium Dual-Core and a lot more storage.

OK. I don't plan on getting a new computer for a long time, anyway. Thanks for the reply, though!

I don't have those small laptops, but they seems just good for those who need to take laptops along and just for general use.
