Anyone know where I can get a large sheet (or roll) of the material mouse pads are typically made out of? I have a desk I do model building on and would like to cover the whole thing in that type of rubber/foam.

I am not sure if the density would be the same but you might try a upholstery shop as they use the padded fabric for insulation on head liners. Also try a silkscreen or sign shop as they are always doing custom signing for mouse pads.

Or you could get like 50 matte mousepads and glue 'em all onto the table. Like a mousepad mosaic. :)

Seriously, you could try a fabric/craft store like Joann Fabrics or Michaels'.

Try googling for plastazote - this is the material you seek.

It is a high density foam, (*without* the top surface on a mousemat), and available in various thicknesses.

If a top surface is required, I feel it can be found separately.

Here in London, we buy plastazote from Pentonville Rubber - see their website.

We use this in trimming vehicles, such as above the headlining. When it is glued in position, pressing does not leave dents.

Pentonville have fixed sheet sizes, however I know in New Zealand it is available 'off the roll'.

Advise how you get on.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
