Plunging a knife in again and again, diver Craig Clasen grapples with a 12ft tiger shark to protect a friend.

Wild photos to be sure, but given how threatened sharks are in general, it's unfortunate this is getting such play.

Obviously doesnt know much about sharks. The shark was just being nosey. If it had any aggressive intent it would have attacked without warning and by the time he saw it it would have been too late. If it did get a bit close a punch on the nose would have been enough to send it away. No need to kill it.

I have been alone in the company of a tiger shark and all it was doing was the same as I was, just being curious. I was alone because my buddy panicked and shot to the surface putting himself in far more danger than I was swimming alongside the shark.

As I have always said, the most dangerous creature in the sea is a diver with a spear gun.

For two hours he wrestled with the giant, spearing it seven times, even drowning the beast before eventually finishing it off with a knife.

Is it just me or does the phrase "even drowning the beast" imply that he killed it by drowning it......before stabbing it to death?

Maybe I'm way off base and this is proper grammar but that sentence simply does not make sense to me. I mean, you can't "drown" someone, or something, a 'little bit' any more than you can be a 'little bit' pregnant, right!?!?

Those are the same type of idiot divers that spear tarpon.

I've been diving for almost 50 years and have never had this kind of problem.

I agree with above poster that the shark was just curious and this f^cking clown used that as an excuse to shoot the shark because it's "big."

The guy probably has a dick that matches the small size of his brain and he has to try and prove his manhood this way.

For a list of all the ways technology has failed to improve the quality of life, please press three.

I can relate to that seawatch. I didn't start diving in salt water until 1969...met up with a crapload of sharks and sea snakes but never had a reason to jack one up.

Hell, who knows; Pacific Ocean is a big place.

Animal cruelty with a willing photographer (handy that).

Sad indeed.

[edit] Just realised I reflected exactly samblack11's sentiments.

Wouldn't surprise me though if the bloke thinks kicking puppies is noteworthy[/EDIT]
