I want to change the system information which appears the top of each post and for the life of me I cannot find where to do so. It was easy in the old Computing .net but I'm totally lost now. Any help will be appreciated.

Regards

Click on My Computing.net in the menu's on the right hand side of the page and when that opens, click on System Specs

Mavis007 posted the link to the "System Specs" page for you so you can just go directly there.

Hey,

You can also change this information when you post. The first thing you should probably do is clear the values by going here:
http://www.computing.net/cgi-bin/my...

Then, If you go to http://www.computing.net/askquestion and post by category or product, the information you enter will be changed.

Thank you for the help... much appreciated. Actually Justin I did clear the values but I noticed after I posted that they were there.

Hmm,

That is odd. So when you cleared them and then clicked on your name in a post, they were gone? When you reposted, they reappeared?

No I cleared them and then could not find the page to enter the amended data so I decided to post anyway. When I used the "Post Reply" dialogue I simply filled in the information there and it has appeared ever since.

I still can't find the page where I can amend the details!

Thank you Mavis I did go there to clear the details but it does not allow you to type in details

"I did clear the values but I noticed after I posted that they were there"

I believe you'll have to clear out your cookies, then re-login to the site.

jam,

I don't think it uses cookie anymore, but I could be wrong...

Ewen, that is weird... I just checked, and when you hit "clear" it should delete all those things from the database... They should be permanently gone. Perhaps there is some sort of javascript issue? I tried to reproduce your error, but I couldn't. After you click clear, they are all gone on that page, right?

Either way, when you fill them in again when you post (whether it cleared it or not), they should change.

Justin... that is correct, after I cleared the information it was indeed gone but there was no way to retype new information as we were able to do in the past BUT when I posted a new thread I typed the information into the "New Post" dialogue and the new information now remains. What I was looking for was the way we used to change information and that is what I could not find.

Hey,

There is no other way to change it then that. This may seem strange, but, with the way posts are classified on Computing.Net, its better. It helps prevent users from putting the incorrect information.
