And I do mean I hate it. Passionately. I've written, I've called, I've ranted and raved.

Right now I'm watching reruns of of Two and Half Men, in S. Florida.

This program was filmed in the regular format for TV.

NOT FRIGGIN' LETTERBOX!!!!

I watch the McLeher report one night and they were all squashed down because some clown at the station decide to broadcast it in letterbox format. The people were squashed.

Letterbox may have a place in theaters, though I doubt that argument also, since I used to write for TV and films and have never seen either improved by the format.

Can we get these 20 somethings to grow up and realize that just because you CAN do something doesn't mean they should?

Yeah, if the program was shot in 4:3, that's how I want to watch it.

If you have an HDTV, you can adjust the aspect ratio to whatever you want with the TV remote, not the provider remote.

Guapo, I know that, but I don't want to have to do that.

I shouldn't have to adjust for every channel I watch because some jerk at a TV station decides it would be cool to change the format.

I've watch TV since the 50's and this just isn't right.

It adds nothing.

I started to watch TV in the 50s as well. We bought our first TV around 1955. I rarely watch it anymore outside of some UFC & boxing.

In any event, all broadcasting will be uniform someday, unless you watch old movies. You might think that you are too old to wait for that day but I think you'll make it.

I hate the Wide Screen format. Digital and HD are great but I wish they had stuck with the old 4:3 format.

You know that life is pretty good if letterbox gives you agida. Hmmm...is it the letterbox format on the tube adding 20 kilos or has Jim been eating one too many beefsteaks lately? I'd like to think of it as the McLeher report--the Fun House Edition.

Howdy-Doody looks the same. Can see less of the strings too.
