Hi all,

This week's poll question is about the new Star Trek movie. Discuss here what you think about this "return to the past," and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks!
Justin

Movies nowadays are a waste of money. Think about the waste after the next you see a movie. I am sure people have something to complain about, after going to a movie theatre.

Back in the 50s, we got, two movies, a serial, and a cartoon for 50 cents.

I got Star Trek off the torrents a few days ago - decent quality too. It was an MP4 at 1.39GB though, most movies are AVI at about 700MB. Plays well thru VLC media player. So far I've only spot checked it...I'll probably watch it tonite. I rarely go to the movies anymore ;)

Just to add, people in the theaters are so rude these days that I don't even like going to the movies. The glow of the cell phones, the constant talking, the rustling of the candy wrappers, etc. The last time I went, someone's cell phone rang near me...the woman answered & started yelling at the person, "I told you I was going to the movies, why are you calling me??". Too friggin stupid & inconsiderate to turn it off.

While I'm on a rant, another time I went, someone pulled a fire alarm & we had to evacuate the theater for about 15-20 min until the fire dept checked the building & gave the OK to return. Well, the theater staff kept the movies running or it would have thrown off their schedule, so we all missed at least that much time out of the film. A lot of the people just ended up leaving. They did offer us all free passes though. I got back just in time to see the final two minutes. It was a bad movie anyway - Aeon Flux. lol

I loved it! It's one huge prequel to the very 1st Star Trek episode with Capt Pike. I liked they way they developed each character's background to give you an idea of how they came to be who they are. And then how the whole Enterprise crew came together. Kirk was definitely one wild & crazy kid...lol.

I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. If you're Trek fan, there's no way you won't crack at least one smile during this movie...chances are, you'll probably find yourself smiling a lot :)

I haven't seen it yet...and I avidly watched the original series when it came out so I'm a fairly big 'trekkie' from way back (not the costume wearing, fair attending type) I've watched all the other Star Trek movies and look forward to this one.

I won't watch it at the theatre though. The nearest one to me is about 130 km's away (that's about 75 miles for you non metric folks) and I have a lovely home theatre system and a big screen LCD TV. I've heard both good and bad reports on it and will reserve judgement for myself.

On a side note, if you're a Star Trek fan and have yet to see the movie Galaxy Quest you should rent that DVD and give it a watch. It's well done and very funny!

I thought the movie was great. Saw it at a local IMAX, and definitely worth the time and money. I was a little skeptical about the new actors, but they all did a fantastic job. Definitely one that you will want to see at the movies.

The flick wasn't bad. But I suggest that you scan your machine with Sophos Klingon Anti-virus when you get home. Make sure to watch the clip, it's hilarious.
