Bill Gates says that he wants to lessen the damage that is done by hurricanes.
My feeling is that any one who can't get a thing like an operating system right after almost 30 years, shouldn't be fooling with the weather.
The Earth has done just fine without man's interference for more than those 30 years.
Fix Windows, then maybe we'll see about letting you mess with the weather.

hmmm
just coincidence? , Bills foundation trust bought 800,000
shares in JJB, UK sportswear company last week.may be better weather ahead o.O
mind you in May he bought shares in Carpetright, v strange thing to do in a recession, as changing your carpets is the last thing on peoples mind in a economic downturn, oops..

Not unlike M$
limited pre-sale period Windows Home Premium 7 is now available for £49.99 instead of £149.99 and Windows 7 Professional for £99.99 instead of £189.99.
(as if any one would pay top $ price.)
lost for words eh slashed prices already , & what do they mean pre sale? its being touted like a console game.
Ridiculous marketing ploy, m$ has finally lost the plot.roll on Chrome.
On topic, lol, Its raining here.

Call Bill immediately and ask for an upgrade to sunshine.
What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I understand.

Skip,
I'm afraid you don't understand.
You can install sunshine only on one town. And unless you uninstall it you may not install it on another town.
Please read your EULA.
Thank You.

Is that an OEM version of sunshine, or the retail version ? You can upgrade to sunshine, but only if it's partly sunny. If it's cloudy, then you have to install the full version of sunshine.

When I tried to validate my copy of Sunshine, my monitor got all snowy.
Then an error message popped up and rained on my parade.
As I thought about Bill gates, I started sarcastically singing Hail To the Chief.
The more I thought about M$, I realized how much it blows.

I really don't understand why ppl are so jealous of Bill
Gates.
A self-made millionare or billionare, I praise his
intelligence. He actually made the best OS of all time,
making minorities like firefox, apple etc, trip on his coat
tails.
Bill Gates is an icon in cyberland!!!!Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

And while M$ is busy with damage control, Google on the other hand seems to be seriously enjoying the downpour from the hurricane on their end ... lol

Tried the upgrade,, didnt work kept getting blue sky of death message,
rolled back to january more rain.
Skipcox , excellent! send it right over, paypal ok?
theres sixty five millon orders heading your way, hope you have a bottling plant ready.:)

No problem 1stepbeyond. 110 yesterday and 109 predicted today (its 101°F now at noon).
I'll have to use Hotmail ;D to send everything above 100°F to y'all. It should be as simple as swapping hemispheres and clicking on send.
No problem with the EULA Larry; Club Bing allows sunshine swapping during the months of July and August if you use Bing as your default search engine. Of course, Hotmail must also be used.
kx5m2g; There's a workaround; just clean the registry of any references to google, yahoo, ask, etc.

Skip,
As long as you use Club Bing and Hotmail you are legal under the EULA. However, stray from the path or use more than 256 characters in your sun sharing file and we will have to have a Word with you and possibly cut off your Access.
Hope we made our Powerful Point. Remember. We Excel at enforcement. We'd rather not have to Paint you a picture of our terms.

I am attempteng to duel boot sunshine and rain to achieve the aloosive Rainbow but instead I get thunderstowm and tornado warnings. I can get sunshine to work and I can get rain to work but seeing how it is hurricane season here I am betting Bill will show up and crash my trailor system no matter waht OS i am running at the time.
Practice makes perfect but only if you practice perfectly!

Oh no i just read my EULA on my copy of Sushine: " Florida residents shall only be permitted to use this Operating system 24 days out of the month. The rest of the month they must use Thunderstorm, Flash Flooding, Sweltering Humidity, or an older OS like Mostly cloudy. Failing to do so terminates the EULA and Hurricane will become the only usable OS which will surely detroy all trailor systems." So it would appear I am screwed!!!!!

Well, Bill's software is true to form. Fired it up today and exported Sunshine. It worked like a perfect boomerang and the temperature went up to 112 in town today.
Hell, almost midnight in California and it's still 104...
This all remind anyone of the original Win95 release?

Likelystory:
Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems with your Sunshine software. We recommend that you format your hard drive and reinstall the Sunshine 1.3 OS.
If for some reason you don't wish to do that, please understand the RTM version did not include the Rainbow option. Due to scheduling problems, the Rainbow feature will available in SP 4.
In Rainbow 4, you'll not only get the aforementioned Rainbows, along with light rain showers, but you'll also get Lollipops and Puppy Dog Tails an no extra charge.
Just follow the Yellow Brick road for the upgrade path.
SkipCox Go to Tools: Options: Sunshine: Lower Threshold: set that to 68 degrees, then go to Tools: Appearance: Feels like: Summer: and set the Upper Threshhold at 92 degrees. That should fix your problem. If not, format and reinstall the OS.

Sorry, can't keep my mouth shut any longer. Open source sunshine is better!!!!!!!!
It's the trees moving that makes the wind blow

Seawatch1:
I tried as you suggested. Even went so far as to install brand new harddrive. The install of Sunshine 1.3 went flawlessly. Without my knowledge or permission Unbareable Humidty 9.8 was also installed. I can not seem to keep this program from running. It is eating up all my resources. I can't open a window without getting over heated and covered in sweat. If I uninstall it it just comes back again after reboot. I have installed more ram and it just eats it up as well. NOW WHAT?? I am thinking of switching to a linux version of thunderstorm at least then I'll know ahead of time what I'll be getting!
Practice makes perfect but only if you practice perfectly!

likelystory:
Unbearable Humidity is an integral part of Sunshine 1.3. The OS will not operate properly without it. We know, we asked our lawyers.
The Linux version of Thunderstorm is probably a hacked version of SummerStorms 2.4.
Therefore little support is available. Try an online forum, but watch for surly attitudes that will expect you to know all kinds of nomenclature such as Isobars, Occluded Fronts & Jetstreams among other technology terms, where as Sunshine is a GUI that works...sometimes.

likelystory: Too much sunshine can cause skin virus-a good program to use is the 2009 Symantec antisunshine suite. If that doesn't work, I would try running sunshine in a virtual environment-that way you won't get burned. I also hear that Google Sunshine is a good alternative to Microsoft Sunshine.

I have an old copy of Mostly Cloudy around here somewhere, maybe I'll go back to that. It was so dull and boring though it always put me to sleep and it doesn't accept more 64mb of ram.
Practice makes perfect but only if you practice perfectly!

Also I still fear that some hacker out there running MOTHER NATURE 10.0 will totally mess up my plans. So far I have had no real security issues with any Microsoft product other than some of their security messures slow my system and irritate me but I know even the mighty Bill Gates will have to answer to someone. Wasn't it an old butter commercial were they used to say "It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature."?
Practice makes perfect but only if you practice perfectly!

I suppose since there's already a patented cure to slow weatherman Al Roker's overeating, the Gates foundation had to find a different humanitarian issue to solve. As tempting as it is to poke at Gates, it's hard for me to be snippy on this one when one considers the tragic devastation caused by hurricanes. I admire people who try to fix the problem rather than apply the bandaid after the damage is done. It's impressive Gates and his co-inventors have applied for multiple patents for technology that slow hurricanes by pumping cold water from barges. If it truly works, that should make him the king of cool...atmospherically speaking, of course...

There is a real danger to messing with Mother Nature.
My house in South Florida was hit by Wilma.
Two years later, my garden never looked better. And it continues to this day.
Only people who put themselves in the way get really hurt. The Earth and it's flora and fauna are fine.
We don't understand much about hurricanes and storms and to give someone who can't get an operating system right after over 20 years does not get my vote to screw with my world.
We were the unwilling, led by the unqualified, to do the unnecessary, for the ungrateful.
VietNam War Poster

Not to mention the amount of ships it would require to pump cold water to the surface and have an effect.
I think I'll keep bettin' on Mother Nature too.
Sorry Bill...appreciate your good intentions but you're outta your league.

I understand the theory behind the idea as I live less than two miles from the Gulf of Mexico. We watch water temperatures here this time of year. It's just that the vast amount of water needed to alter the air temp. of an area that large is unbelievable. In my mind anyway. I've more or less grown up on the water and have come to believe that the oceans control everything in one way or another. We've seen it here with just the simple dredging of a small chanel. It altered all sorts of life for many miles around including crops and yes weather patterns as well. The changes are well documented.
Let's say he is capable of doing this. If the steering currents change it is not going to simply change the direction of the hurricane but everything els as well and I don't believe just in that area. A simple example would be putting a dam in the Mississippi river. Sure the flooded area south of the dam will begin to dry up but the water will rise on the other side. Is there a winner in that. I guess it depends on which side you own pproperty. Also if works how many years can he afford to keep it going. I know he is the ultra of the ultra rich but these people don't get and stay this way by throwing money away. Someone will have to help pay or take over at some point. The goverment? Great more tax dollars to be yanked from our thinning pockets. $0.70 out of every dollar that group of fools gets their hands on seems to go into some fat mans pockets so I aint game for that. If it costs Bill 1 Billion a year to fund this project it will cost us at least 60 Billlion a year. No thanks.
On a lighter note it does make for some good jokes.
