If somebody knows where I can download solaris 8 for intel. I download it from ftp://ftp.neic.nsk.su/pub/Solaris_x86/
but at the beginning of the installation right after I select "Interactive Setup" my computer goes to reboot.
I do not know if it is problem with this source of mine. Please, help.

http://wwws.sun.com/software/solaris/binaries/get.html
you must register to download the CD images, but it does not cost anything but your time.

Goto:
http://ftp.cfu.net/pub/soffice/
They have the complete set of Solaris 8 binaries for Intel available for download(unzip the files, then burn the iso images to cd.)
You'll need:
sol-8-u5-ia-v1.zip
sol-8-u5-ia-v2.zip
sol-8-u5-install-ia.zipGet them quickly, Sun has discontinued support for the Intel platform...

Thank you very much for the hint!
I downloaded, burned, installed. All was going well. One thing only.
There are three CDs there.
1. sol-8-u5-ia-v1
2. sol-8-u5-ia-v2
3. sol-8-u5-install-iaIt seems that first and third are almost the same. But when I was installing from the first, I had two choices:
Interactive Setup and WebStart.
Whatever I selected all went well. I got X, installation wizard then at the end of setup I got "broken pipe ..." then reboot.I tried installation from the third CD.
It started WebStart by default then asked to repartition my HD, then all were well and Solaris was installed.
I cannot understands what is difference between those two installation modes. My machine is Compaq deskpro PII 400Mz.
Thank you very much again for help!

does anyone know a faster mirror site to download solaris 8 ? i have tried the ones in the links and get about 5kdavid
