I have an Ultra 2 running Solaris 8. The machine is currently connected to a SUN monitor with a TGX video adapter.
I have a 13W3 video adapter so I can use a PC monitor on this machine to free up the SUN monitor. I get a blank screen when they are connected - does anyone know what I am doing wrong or if I need a specific PC monitor with this graphcs card?
Thanks

Seeing as how no one else will put their $0.02 in -
what do you mean by a 13w3 video adapter? do you mean a FF PC adapter (PCI slot to 13w3 fixed freqency out)
or a 13w3 to HD15 video adapter (with or without sync combiner)?is the TGX a 13w3 out? (in which case is it composite or seperate sync?)
there are four standards that happen to use a 13W3 connector that I know of, probably many more I don't - need lots more info to help. What's the sun monitor that works (that will tell me the most, having got a gdm1962B to work on a PC . . .

Hi Rick
Thanks for the response and apologies for not checking in for responses sooner. I realise I phrased the above problem badly. To be more specfic I have the following :
Port adapter for Sun 13W3 framebuffers. Converts female 13W3 port to female HD15 (standard VGA type) port. Used to connect monitors with VGA (HD15) connectors to Sun systems with 13W3 framebuffer. 13W3 M - HD15 F Sun Adapt.: 1395-SUNhttps://www.ultraspec.com/ultra/product.asp?sku=1395%2DSUN&dept%5Fid=1111
The SUN monitor is a standard SUN 17inch. The SUN boxes all have TGX video cards - not sure of part numbers etc. I believe I need a different video card for the SUN boxes.

The problem is that TGX use by default strange resolutions and sync values not supported by PC monitors, so you cold use the following, with the Sun monitor set variable output-device on boot prom (stop+A)
output-device screen:r1024x768x60 [ENTER]
reset [ENTER]connect PC monitor and it should work ...
hope this helps.
Regards,
CA.
