Dear all,

I have a problem in using mailx and uuencode,
when sending attachement from solaris 5.7, I use the following command:

uuencode AAA AAA| mailx -s "subject" email@address

It works find for binary file "AAA", but when I attach a text file, the recipient get a mail did not have attachment, instead the file was become a garbage inside the content.

How can I resolve the problem? Thanks in advance...

I have a solution but quite silly...

use the command "uuencode" twice, i.e.

uuencode AAA AAA| uuencode AAA AAA | mailx -s "subject" email@address

It works for solaris 7.

But anybody who know another better way to do so?

Hi Tom,

I have a problem similar to yours - i.e. garbage coming out when sending text. However all solutions (as posted in this web forum) don't seem to work for me? I am running Solaris 2.6

ANyone with any ideas?

Thanks,
Julius Wee
