Comment:

I just purchased a V480 and would like to install a new OS to the system. I found out on the back panel, there are two serial port. Both are RJ45 serial head. I am trying to tip the console with my labtop. My labtop's serial port is a 9 pin. May I ask how I may tip the console with my labtop? Can I just use the normal RJ45 Lan Cable to connect to the V480 serial port? I have tried many ways but still can't connect through. On the labtop, I was using the Hyper Terminal with the correct settings (8/N/1/9600). Detailed H/W instruction is highly appreciated!

Also, should the RJ45 cable be straight or cross?

Stokely Consulting is a great source for all things Sun.

For urgent and if you have a sun worstation you can use the db25 serial interface with the db25 adapter (silver) included in your box and a straight cable.
