Hi,

One day I turn back on one Solaris I found that another Solaris can't bootup, then I found that first Solaris one folder disappear (the 2nd Solaris mount first solaris so it can't bootup)

1. The first Solaris need me to fsck, a vol seems have problem. Then I found that one important folder disappear. Any hint on why the folder disappear? --can I check?

2. I try to restore the data from tape (tar xvf /dev/rmt/0 ), strange thing happan, the data in the tape is FAR larger than the free space in the filesystem, I have no hint on how to restore the data back to the Solaris, very strange....do I need to set anything when restoring the data? Thanks!!

hi , I am not sure of the exact way you backed up your data but try this

/usr/sbin/ufsrestore
ufsrestore -ibfs 126 /dev/rmt/0cbn 1

this should bring you to the ufsrestore prompt

then to a ls

then you shoud be able to browes the dir's and find the data you want.

be sure you are IN the dir you want to restore the data too. then do a
ufsrestore -rbfs 126 /dev/rmt/dir_name

try this you might have to mess with block sizes these were the ones that worked for me man.

good luck
