I recently connected my Sun U10 to the adsl line here at home. Since I am also running a couple of PCs on it as well, I'm using the Linksys router (4 port). Everything appears to be fine with the exception of this annoying message upon boot up:
Apr 15 15:46:52 sunu10 sendmail[201]: unable to qualify my own domain name (sunu10) -- using short name
I've edited the appropriate files ( I believe) and listed the contents of each for your review:
defaultrouter
192.168.1.1 pacbell.netresolv.conf
domain pacbell.net
nameserver 63.200.115.40
nameserver 206.13.28.12
search pacbell.nethosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.x sunu10 loghostI can go out onto the internet fine...email (PINE) appears to be fine.
What did I do to upset sendmail?
Mine does this as well. It seems to be when the OS sends emails to a user when some events happen, like adding entrys in the syslog. Try leaving the terminal window open when you're setting something up (like a printer, or BIND) and you'll get a lot of them. Unfortunatly, I dont know how to fix it...
hello
first make one changes in ur
#/etc/resolv.conf entryremove
domain OR search entry because both cann't co-exist each other.
andmore thing put a period entry in last of ur loop back entry line in
#/etc/hosts
that will solve ur problem.Anil Maheshwari
you can just add another alias whith a dot like this on your /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.x sunu10 sunu10. loghostbecause sendmail on solaris 8 search un qualify host with domain dns like
sun.com.
