Unable to resolve DNS under DHCP

I am now running a "new" Ultra 1/Solaris 7 through a DHCP firewall router to a cable modem. I can ping the gateway and other websites using their IP addresses. I can also view their web sites via their IP address in a browser but not using their URL. This indicates a DNS issue to me. Other computers (Macs/OS X) connected to this router via DHCP work OK. I have set up the following under /etc:
1) DHCP.hme0 (empty) 2) hosts (contains only local host info plus a hack that adds "loghost" at the line end to prevent problems during boot). 3) hostname.hme0 (empty) 4) nsswitch.conf ( modified to include "dns" at the end of the "hosts" line. 5) notrouter (empty) 6) netmasks (empty - although I have tried adding subnet info with no improvement) 7) resolv.conf - contains only the domain name.
