Comment:

I want to change the server timezone to BST (for temporary testing).

On giving date command, I am getting the following

Fri Nov 23 14:53:42 GMT 2007

The file /etc/TIMEZONE shows the fllowing

TZ=GB
CMASK=022
LC_COLLATE=en_GB.ISO8859-1
LC_CTYPE=en_GB.ISO8859-1
LC_MESSAGES=C
LC_MONETARY=en_GB.ISO8859-1
LC_NUMERIC=en_GB.ISO8859-1
LC_TIME=en_GB.ISO8859-1

How will I change the timezone to BST.

Look in /usr/share/lib/zoneinfo to see if the appropriate file (europe/London)exists. If not, use zic (zone information compiler) to create i.e.

/usr/sbin/zic europe

Edit /etc/TIMEZONE (link to /etc/default/init) and reboot system
