When I try to enter info for dns servers it won't take it. I can enter an ip to get a web page. I get a link failed error for my network card. Can anyone help?

Yes, I did a sys-unconfig. I tried to enter the info manually before, and it wouldn't work then either. After I enter the DNS info, it says link failed for my network card and it won't take the DNS info either. This computer is connected through a hub and when it is running windows, the network works fine. I know I have the right nameserver ip's. I did create a defaultrouter file in /etc with the network ip of the other machine.(I think that is right.) I can enter an ip in netscape and get a webpage.
