I am running a Solaris 8 machine and I used to be able to use the su command from ssh and right on the machine itself but now all of the sudden I can not do either! I can easily su from root to any user but I can not su to root or to any other user from any user besides root. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Check your /dev/console entry in your etc/passwd file and see if someone changed it.

Long shot, but have you checked your locale settings for when you are typing in your password ? If you tokenize your passwords you may find double-quotes (") are being replaced by the @ sign (or vice versa)
Caught me out a couple of times as you obviously can't see the password your typing as echo is turned off.
