I am having an issue getting Stop A to work on an Ultra 5 in order to install Solaris 8 from cd. I bought a used Ultra 5 and am unable get to the ok prompt (or the OS). I tried to use "Stop A" but I still get the following errors. These are the same errors I get even if I do not hit "Stop A".

I get a "Bad Magic number in disk label" error followed by "Can't open disk label package" error, next I get "Boot Device: net File and Args:" error and a loop looking for the network cable and an ARP/RARP error. Look like they had to machine Netowrk boot and I can stop it from trying to do that.

Again, "STOP A" doesn't get me to the ok prompt so I can't do much of anything with this used machine. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks.

Try Holding down Stop and N while you power up the machne. This should reset the OBP, then try stop A
