I just completed installing Solaris 8 - IA 4/01. But kdmconfig is not recognizing my
graphics card (STB Velocity 128 - I think it has a NVidia Riva 128 Chip). I used the standard SVGA 800x600 resolution. Has anybody had success with utilizing the card's full capabilities? My Win98SE gives me a resolution of 1600x1200 (32 bit). Any pointers would help!

Btw, I am looking into XFree86 4.0.3. Is this the right way to proceed?

- Mathis.

Did you ever receive a satisfactory answer to your problem? I too am experiencing the same problem and am having a difficult time finding Solaris drivers for this card. Thank you.

Thanks to Benjamin's posting above I was able to download and install the Velocity 128 driver (as he mentioned, terribly slow!).

I still cannot get the card to perform correctly on a Windows 2000 Pro machine (NT). All I really want from it is Composite Video Out but all I get on the TV screen is the Windows2000 logo, not what is on the VGA monitor screen.

Is there some STB software that is needed in addition to the drivers? Thanks.

OK...got it working and am acutally "broadcasting" web screens on a CCTV system. I have to drag the VGA screen way off to the right to get the TV display centered so obviously I have some fine-tuning to do.... but it's working!

Hi, Anyone can advise how do I make Solaris (Intel platform) work with STB Velocity 128?

What is the graphics driver that I should select when prompted by the Web Start Installation?

I ran int othe same problem with the Nvidia Riva 128 chip and Solaris 7x86.

My solution was a simple, but costly one. I looked in the HCL (Hardware Compatibility List) and found a high-end AGP card that Solaris 7x86 actually WORKS with.

If you don't have a copy of your version of the HCL, go here to look at it:

Ooh, I've been trying to find a directX 7 (or higher) compatible STB Velocity 128 driver forever. I have almost decided that this old pc needs to be trashed, but if there is anyway to get one of those it will still be worth keeping it... oh well, it's not going to happen.

I think it has an NVidia chip, but I don't believe that any of their drivers will handle it :(
