Comment:

Just installed Solaris 8 10/01 on Blade 100 raw disk. Didn't install dhcp/nis/nis+ and cannot use netscape for internet. tried 2-3 papers on Internet to solve unknown hostname problem but no use. At the start I can see "dhcp starting..." and hostname, and at the end the name is unknown. I use Comcast cable modem via Dlink 802.11b router (has 4 wired ports). PCs on the same router works fine. I can see SUN even got the correct dynamic IP address. But during install I assigned another IP address.
Anybody can tell, how to add dhcp after installation? can i connect internet w/o the correct hostname? do I need nis/nis+ if I use other Windows PC as ftp server and want to get file from windows to sparc? appreciate.

you can reconfigure dhcp after install. For
detailed instructions see celeste stokely's
