source tool does not work

Hi: I am trying to source a file but my OS gives me a message of the form

source: not found ... i belive the source utility is under the /usr/bin directory butits not there. when i do a search on root for source, i still dont find it.

what do i do ?

The source routine is embedded in the shell. type:

. path-to-file

the . tells the shell to source the file
