How do I get a screen shot on a solaris machine? Do I need software and, if so, where do I find it?

Use the SUN "snapshot" util. I believe it is in the /usr/openwin/bin directory and can be accessed by right clicking the mouse and looking in tools. This will capture the whole screen or just a single window.

We have solaris at uni, and we've used xwd to capture the screen, and xwud to send it to someone elses screen (could be the other way round, I get those two names confused!). This is quite fun, but they've now defaulted to xhost - because we spent more time sending full ssize clocks to other peoples screens than doing work! :) Damien.
