can someone please give me a detail instruction on how to install a network printer in solaris 8. The printer is physically connected to a ethernet port, not to a server or a pc. It has an ip address assigned but no dns name. I tried adding the printer throught admin tool but did not work. Also tried bringing up the print manager by using '$smc &' but can't find the print mgr. Please help!!
Thanks..

Perhaps this detailed manual helps you:
http://www.digitalissues.co.uk/unix/solaris.html
It's mainly targeted at canon printers, but the it can also be used for some other printers.

Otherwise you can always take a look at CUPS (and help me compiling cups on solaris..I posted a message here about that).
