Hi all,
I am unable to install Solaris 8 on my computer. This is what I have done so far:
Created a primary partition on my first hard disk which is also the first partition of the hard disk (linux-hda1,3GB) - set partition id to 0x82 - activated partition.
But I recieve the following message:
Too many fdisk partitions, please don't create more that three fdisk partitions.
Solaris installer needs to create a solaris fdisk paritition on your root disk, c0d0, that is at least 393 MB.
May the solaris fdisk create a solaris fdisk [y,n,?]At this point if I answer if I answer n the installation stops. I haven't tried y yet but from the documentation it appears that it is asking me whether to initialise the disk, which I do not wish to do because my HD already has other OS's installed along with important data. Also the partition size is 3 GB so that shouldn't also be a worry.
Thanks

I believe you get this message from the install disk. Try with CD 1 instead. It gives you a finer level of control.

If you use "Solaris Web-start" installation method it will erase all of Ure hard disk partions.
Be careful.
Booting with linux require a knowledge because all of the solaris partion will be shown as "swap" in linux.
You have to use "No-Swap" for linux before installing Solaris-8 with it.You beter use "Solaris Interactive " Installation method
Forget Solaris Web start.
