Hello all

I have a Sun soalris 5.8.

I need to install Oracle 9i on a different home directory since i already have 8i on the same box.

Can any one tell me how to check the disk space on that Sun box?...

Also do i need to have Admin Privileges for that box to check the space or just DBA privileges do ?...

Thanks for your help

Kevin

Windows user i presume. You should not need root to run this command:

df -k

or df -k [partition_name] (df -k /usr)

for a particular partition.

Thanks Jim

So i log into that box and issue df -k.

Now what i see total available and total used for each mount..

So my question is " Is that space allocated to me or for all the people on that BOX?...

Iam sorry, iam still new to unix.

It depends on what permissions the user has. The /export/home directory is where most normal users are able to create files.
So whatever slice that is under is the one most people will be using.
