Check for which parallel port you have - /dev/ecpp0 or /dev/bpp0, then run, (generally, ecpp0 -newer machines)
# admintool (select 'browse' from menu -> printers) or if you have Sun Solstice Loaded: /opt/SUNWadm//bin/printmgr
NOTE: Make sure your printer is PS (PostScript) compatible (generally laser) Another, if you have DeskJet, then direct printing of graphics not possible, as every output generally is either PS or text. For graphics from Deskjet, install Ghostscripts (GS) and Ghostview. GS-Necessary, GV (not so) Available bins- http://www.sunfreeware.com/

I don't like the admintool way of doing things, but if you have trouble with this, you can try a man on the lpadmin command.
IMO it's better to know the commands in case you can't get a display (or are on a headless machine) and need to do such work.
