Hi.
I have a distant Ultra 5, booted;
ok> boot -s cdrom
They brought up networking manually
# ifconfig hme0 plumb
# ifconfig hme0 inet 209.xx.xx.xx broadcast + up
# route add default 209.xx.xx.xx 1Now I can get a login prompt from remote box, but since I'm 'not on the console' I cant log in as root. root is the only account /etc/passwd has on Installation CD. :(
/etc is the cdrom (ro), so editing /etc/default/login is __out__
Q: Is there any other way to allow a remote root login while booted this way?
This is __out__ of the question:
# mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /a
# chroot /a /sbin/sh
# vi /etc/default/login
(/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 is sick, fsck will not repair, need to get in remotly as root do so some sysadmin!)Any help would be great!!!
