I’m installing solaris 9.0 on the following hardware setup
Dell Power Edge sc 420
Serial ATA hard drive technology
BIOS:A01
and I’m getting some errors while doing the install such as
ERROR : Could not create fdisk partition table
ERROR : Could not label disks
ERROR : could not update disks with new configuration

Along with some warnings like

WARNING: /pci@0,0/pci-ide@7,1/ide@0/cmdk@0,0 (Disk 0):
Error for command 'read sector' Error Level: Informational
Sense Key: aborted command
Vendor 'GEN-ATA 'error code: 0X3"

I have tried various suggestions in this forum but it still doesn't work

hi, I would try an ide or scsi drive man if that is an option. I dont think solaris 9 know what to do with an sata drive.

I have found the same thing and changing drives fixed it
