Has anyone tried to install solaris 9 on VMware
under windows 2003 server? Is this possible?

I installed a Solaris 10 preview in VMware on Linux. The VMware host OS shouldn't matter.

I didn't bother with a GUI. If you want it, I think you need to install the most recent version of the XFree86 porting kit (search Sun's site). And, as I recall, the binary version doesn't have the VMware driver.
