Comment:

I'm trying to install Solaris 8 (v 2/02) on a DELL PowerEdge 600 sc (P4, 512 MB mem, 40 GB HD). During the installation (after the system conf check and during the boot) I get the messages:

/pc1@0,0/pc1-ide@f,1/ide@0(ata0)
Warning
Timeout abort request, target=0, lun=0
warning
Timeout abort device, target=0, lun=0
Warning
Timeout reset target, target=0, lun=0
Warning
Timeout reset bus, target=0, lun=0

After this the system will reboot
The address is the address of the cd-rom on device 15, function1, bus 0

Both cd-rom and HD are seen by the configuration and are working. (Even tried other IDE’s)

I entered the solution of SHA (Nov 10,2001), but got the same results with additional messages:

/pc1@0,0/pc1-ide@f,1/ide@0(ata0)
Warning
…..
cannot assemble drivers for root /pci@0,0/pci-ide@f,1/ide@0/sd@1,0:a
cannot mount root on /pci@0,0/pci-ide@f,1/ide@0/sd@1,0:a fstype:ufs

panic [cpu0] /thread=fec17660 vfs-mountroot: cannot mount root

It doesn't matter if I use the Solaris Web Start of the Interactive Installation.
What is going wrong?

Onno
