hi, After install Solaris 8 on Ultra 5 machine when I reboot the server it gives an error given below. /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0: DIRECTORY CORRUPTED I=7563 OWNER=root MODE=40755 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY;RUN fsck manually I did run the fsck but it is not work it dumping some files over and over again Please advice what's happenning?

If the install went smoothly and this all happened right after you finished the install, then I'd look to make sure your hard disk isn't faulty. Can you get or borrow another hard disk to try installing on that? Mike

Hi, I had an unexpected inconsistency a while ago on my second drive, it's basically a disk crash. You may be able to recover from it, you may not. All you can do is run fsck and let it do it's work, then do a sync from the ok prompt to see if that helps any. If not you should try a different hard disk.
