I have a sun fire v120 that only has a lom port for a management port. I usually administer this box remotely from a windows 2000 machine by telneting into it. What I would like to do is have some type of gui to administer it instead of the command line. I have looked at vnc but I'm having trouble installing it on the solaris 8 sun box. When I run the vnc server form the command line and it gives me a xauth couldn' find in your path. Where is this located. Or is there a better gui out there.I would like to use the gui from the remote windows machine but using the lom or serial port would be ok too.

How difficult is vnc to install? Download from ftp://ftp.sunfreeware.com/pub/freeware/sparc/8/vnc-3.3.3r2-sol8-sparc-local.gz
gunzip vnc-3.3.3r2-sol8-sparc-local.gz
pkgad -d vnc*

I have no problem installing the package, I have trouble running the vncserver. When I issue that command it gives me "couldn't find Xauth on your path." What is that and where is it located?

It does not sound like you have an X Server anywhere. You will need to get some X Server SW to run on your PC (such as Exceed) and set your display back to the PC.
