I type in my user name and password, the system accepts them an hour glass appears, the screen goes white then black, and it kicks me back into the login screen. This problem is for non-root users only. And happens when I try to login through SunBlade100 workstation. When I checked the startlog file in .dt it had following errors:
fbConsole:ptsname failed
.
.
ptsname: Permission denied
unable to get pty: Permission denied
x Connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown)
Xlib: Connection to "0,0" refused by the server
Xlib: invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
dsdm: can't open display :0

** Your help will be highly appreciated!

I have seen this problem several times while developing on Trusted Solaris 8. It took me a few minutes to remember what caused it.

The problem always worked out to be the account could not write to its home directory. This could be because it doesn't exist, or it doesn't have permission, or the home dir is at the wrong label (TS8 only).

Give that a shot.
