Solaris 8 boot help!!!

I'm new using Solaris. I changed the /etc/hosts file with a new ip address for the machine. I then turned the machine off and everytime I log as 'root' the display is black. I cant see a thing. Is there any way that I can open the text editor from the terminal and modify the file?

boot disk -s once you get to the root prompt.. run a /usr/sbin/sys-unconfig and redo your IP information... that is the proper way of doing it... you missed a lot of files doing it your way... follw the directions after
