Solaris 7 FTP problem

Is anyone aware of an FTP problem with Solaris 7? In particular with getting accurate file sizes and file modification times. I have an FTP script that requires this information, so it knows with the file is ready to be FTP'd. However, it always returns a file size of zero, rather than the actual value. Has anyone seen this? Has it been fixed in newer versions? Thanks.
