I have a Solris 10 upgrade gone wrong. I want to try to get the system up w/out rebuilding. It is a test system so I can rebuild later but now I need it up!
I cannot start multiple services - the first is rpb-bind.
rpcbind failed with 1.
[ Apr 6 10:20:21 Method "start" exited with status 1 ]
[ Apr 6 10:20:21 Executing start method ("/lib/svc/method/rpc-bind start") ]
/lib/svc/method/rpc-bind: /dev/msglog: cannot create
rpcbind failed with 1./dev/mslog exists and I can "access" it. I can write to the root directory...

2tired2think, how did you resolve this problem? we are running into the same thing after installing hot fixes from Sun.
Any help would be great,
thanks

I have now had this problem happen twice: once was a bad upgrade, I had to reinstall almost every package on the dvd manually - but then the system worked and has for months (although Sun said I should have rebuilt it).
Happened again - but I had screwed up /etc/security/device_policy!!! Caused all sorts of havoc and never figured it out on my own - had to call sun :(
