I put vista as my first operating system running of 256mb memory. I did it with vlite.
taking out many components I don't need then
making the iso file with 697mb on cd to install vista. now I need to know if there is a way to put solaris 10 x86 on cd to make my computer run quicker and less space.
I only have a 20gb hard drive and 512mb.
needing lesser space and of course who wouldn't want a lil bit faster operaing system on boot up. I want to know that. if anyone know if there is anything alike vlite
to linux please let me know.

If you want fast boot you need beos or maybe qnx4.
Solaris and linux is not designed to boot fast. There are some distros and can be made very small and seem to boot kind of fast. Normally fast is just less.
See Gentoo for the fastest possible linux, you build it to your system.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

If you are looking for a fast boot you sun rackmount hardware would be the best option for you. Its fast, cheap and durable

Jennifer
