We have a lab environment with a couple of Solaris machines that we all rlogin to from different workstations. Everybody is using the same username in the lab environment so we cannot see exactly who is logged in. The DISPLAY environment variable contains the

We would like to send messages to all others logged in to the same workstation, i.e. have a window or text popup in all workstations named in the DISPLAY environment variable.

Does anybody know how?

hello,

one way is to create a file and to write your messages.
then "wall -a filename"
