reformat hard drive

I am currently trying to reinstall Solaris 7 on my Sparc Classic. During installation everything was going good. Then it stop with a write error. I'm trying to reformat the hard drive but I keep getting the message: Cannot format disk while its partition are currently being used for swapping? What do I do? I tried to delete the current partitions and relabe them but that did'nt work. Does anybody have any suggestions. It cant be a hard as it look. =:)
