I'm having problem to do rcp any Unix files from Solaris 8 into PC which used Dynamic IP. The system will display an error like 'unknown :ffff:10.1.10.202' where the Dynamic IP for the PC is 10.1.10.202. If i set the PC IP in /etc/hosts like 10.1.10.202 and follow by the PC Name .. I managed to do rcp without error. But I can not make it forever because everytime the PC Ip address changed I have to edit the /etc/hosts file.
What should I do?. I'm still new in Solaris 8 and need some help.

I´m not all sure but should be able to the arp command to get your PC:s ip-address.
Try: arp -s PC_HOSTNAME PC_ETHER_ADDRESS temp

Then wait a short time and then issue:
arp -p

This should list the arp-table where you proably will find your PC:s ip-address.

If this works it should be a small thing to write a script that filters out just the information needen and updates the /hosts file.

I´m currently not having my Solaris box connected to a network so I´m not able to check this properly otherwise I´ve helped you more.
