Hi All,

Quick, easy question from a lowly DBA who knows very little about shell scripting!

I've got a script which strips out dodgy characters from import files, and I want to build in a simple condition that reads in a Y or N. If it's Y then it should just continue with the script, if it's N then it should exit.

Could someone please let me know the syntax to do this sort of if then else task?

Thanks for your help,

Simon

Use the CASE option like in the
/etc/init.d/volmgt file

they use CASE {start /stop }.....
reprogram it to Yes and no....
