Hi,
I've been creating user accounts with the Solaris Management Console. I've told it to use /export/home/username for the home directories, and it creates these with no problem. When I look up the /etc/passwd file though, it shows the home directories as /home/username. A further check in SMC shows that it still thinks /export/home/username is correct. Obviously something is getting out of sync somewhere. Anyone have any ideas as to how to correct this? So far, I've just been manually editing the passwd file, but I don't really want to have to do this for every new user!

Are u using LDAP as namingservice??
if not use the cmd line... "useradd"
command.. saves a lot of trouble
(don't forget the -m option to make the home
-dir!)

NAME
useradd - administer a new user login on the system

SYNOPSIS
useradd [ -c comment ] [ -d dir ]
[ -g group ] [ -m ] [ -u uid ] [-s shell ] login

This should be enough to create users...
After this set passwd of the user... and You
are ready.

Hope it helps
