I am new to solaris and having this problem on installation. Can some one help me.

After launching the sol config assist from a floppy. it takes me some steps until I need to choose the device to boot sol kernel from. I then choose CD. After this I am unable to continue with this error.

Unable to mount Solaris root file system from the device:
/pci@0,0/pci-ide@2,1/ide@1/sd@0,0:a: can't open - no VTOC"

Then another time gives
can't open - i/o error

Okay since you are on Intel box or a laptop,
I suggest you check that the CDROM is bootable or also check if CDROM has been enabled from BOIS

best of luck
