Did you not find anything to your liking in the published hardware compatability list at sun.com ? http://soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/hcl/8/202/toc.html
Personally I favor 3com, specifically 3c905

David is very correct!
Not to sound like a commercial, but 3Com 905s work with every operating system written for desktop computers. Drivers are already included in Solaris8 for them. They work perfectly!
