PCI 3Com network card

I’m trying to install an additional 3Com network card (3C905xx) on system with solaris 7 and a sparc processor. This system detects de card with the command show-devs in stop-A mode but the system don´t assign any device name like hme (or elxl for this case). I don´t know if I need to install any special package or patch. All the information I read about this spoke about intel processor and x86.

Try forcing the OS to do a reconfigure boot. Use (as root): touch /reconfigure init 6
Let me know if it works. This opens up a world of options. I don't know if Intel PCI network cards work in SPARC workstations. You may even have to download a driver for it but I'm not even sure if they exist for SPARC.

The 3c905 is listed on the solaris hardware compatibility list. Highly recommended and stable.

I already try that, and drvconfig, boot -r… and doesn’t work. The system never found a device name for that card. But know my problem is solved, know I’m using a quad card and everthing is working fine. I spoke with other persons and they told me that 3C905xx card is not compatible with sparc systems, just for intel systems.
