Comment:

When installing openSSH I have all the prerequisites installed (perl, zlib, openssl, prngd, egd), but when I run the ssh-keygen command I noticed that I don't have any ssh key files in my /usr/local/etc directory. There is supposed to be a few ssh_key_host files in here. What gives?

You need to create those files you mentioned using the ssh-keygen commands.
