If anyone could point me in the right direction, I got a hold of an old ass sparc 20 and have zilch Unix experience, - don't even know the root password (or any accounts) on the box. Wanted to download a copy of Solaris, create a boot disk and start over from scratch (wipe the drive). I've got a windows machine attached to the net to do the download - Where can I download an older copy of solaris and create a set of install disks? Thnx!!!!

you can download solaris 8 or solaris 9 for free directly from sun (2 or 3 cd's) at htp do not download the installer cd. you don't need it. you can boot using cd1 directly.

the simplest way of making your box work would be to attach an external cdrom drive (scsi) and boot right off that. install the os and you're done.
