hi
i wanna install solaris 7.X. I have a C.D. But i dont have a dca boot floppy.
Can any body tell me how to get the boot floppy

Press Stop-A.
boot CDROMand insert your Solaris CD-Rom.
You can DL the solaris media kit
from www.sun.com. You don't
need to pay for that!Needed: Install, Utils 1, Utils 2
This is revision 8

The DCA diskette is used for booting, in lieu of booting from CDROM or hard disk. The DCA diskette comes with the Solaris media, but you need to "roll your own" if you downloaded Solaris or if your DCA diskette
becomes corrupted. To create the diskette, follow these steps:(i)Download DOS program dd.exe, which is used to write the DCA image, from http://SolDC.Sun.COM/support/drivers/tools/
(ii)Download the DCA diskette image for the Solaris x86 version that you want to install (for example, S8_0101.3) from http://SolDC.Sun.COM/support/drivers/dca_diskettes/
(iii)Run dd.exe to copy the image to the floppy diskette: dd.exe a:
You have now created a (bootable) Solaris DCA diskette.

In reply to my earlier reply there is a small correction. In step 3, the command to be given is :
dd.exe a:

Sorry once again. somehow the command i tried to paste is not being pasted properly in the earlier mails. Step 3 is to be read as:
dd.exe "filename obtained from step 2(eg:"
S8_0101.3)" a:

I copied the dd.exe from the web site. I want to install solaris 8 intel on my laptop. Please give me simple directions to install solaris 8 on intel pc.
