Had no problems with my System (Windows 98) for the last 3 years. In recent weeks I am experiencing several problems: * System has slowed down significantly (although adequate memory and storage) * Number of programs won't open e.g. HP CD Writer, Adobe Photo Deluxe, Real Player etc. * System can't be shut down by Start-Shut Down etc. * Internet Explorer and Outlook Express opening and working perfectly * Can't open Word documents by simply clicking on files e.g. in My Documents. Have to go to Programs - Microsoft Word and open documents by File-Open * I get repeated 'Msgsrv 32 not responding' warnings
I ran Norton Antivirus (included latest updates) + the free Trend virus scan from www.antivirus.com but no viruses found & also tried the FixKlez.com file as per instructions but no viruses were found.

I have the exact problem following the same experience with Windows ME. I also tried the fixes with Norton to no avail.
Has anyone responded to you about this? Can you forward me the response? I would appreciate it.
Dana

I have the same problem with Msgsrv 32 not responding. I have Windows ME.
A response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Jeff

I have a 400mhz Celeron, running windows 98, with 256 mb of RAM, and have the exact same problem !!
Did anyone find a solution ????

I too have a 400mhz Celeron, running windows 98, with 256 mb of RAM, and have the exact same problem !! Its only started doing it in the past few weeks.
Its driving me crazy!

P2 400 500+ ram running 98....
I've got a nasty startup, takes double or more time to get to my Microsoft networking password prompt, then fatally lags - ctrl-alt-del says the msgsrv32 is not responding. Interresting thing is, one out of six times it will start no problem...
I've been thinking of re-installing 98.
IT guy at work suggests running MSCONFIG andf checking the registry and startup. Maybe by disabling the program things will work, or at least we can diagnose it.

Fills me with a vit of dread, more info to come as I find it...

Check this out... basically I just unplugged my Palm HotSync cradle and it fixed my problem. Hopefully this works for you guys as well.

I dont have a Palm, but I read an article somewhere that mentioned similar problems with Real player. So I removed Real Player, and haven't had a problem since. Have not re-installed yet.
