Hi, Lennart

I don't think it will work. I remember Ultra 10 had problems with disks more than 20GB, what about ultra 2 ... :)

Look here at TABLE C-1:
http://www.sun.com/products-n-solut...

You will find maximum 9 GB supported.

Hi,
I found a book in my own bookcase, Solaris Internals, so I can partly answer myself. The Solaris file system can handle max 1 TB.
In the ultra 2 I have a 18 GB disk without problem. By the way, I have already paid for the 146 GB disk, so I will test and report to you how it goes.
In my blade100 I have a 80 GB disk and it works ok. How big was that disk in the Ultra 10? Do you know about the magic 137 GB limit for the IDE interface?

Hi,

Hmm... The disk that I tried to install on Ultra 10 was about 40 GB, I don't remember now, it was so far... I didn't know about 137GB limit for interface, but actually we bought 20GB disk from reseller for that Ultra 10. And I was told larger disks are not supported.

Ok, I'm looking forward to hearing from you about successful installation of 146GB on your station.

I have 80GB disks in the Ultra10 with Solaris 2.8, no problems. With Solaris 2.51 in the Ultra10, the 20GB disk is the maximum size, otherwise the OS will crash on boot-up when it sees larger disks. The older Suns with SCSI drives have an 18GB disk size limit with Solaris 2.51, 12/5/2006

It is not sure that the disk size is the problem. It may be the boot partition that is limited to this size.

I have a 18GB disk as disk 0 on my Ultra 2, but my boot partition is set to 2GB, and as notes in another thread the 146GB is disk 1 and it works with no problem.
